OLLU Sacred Heart Conventual Chapel
The Jewel of the Westside, the Sacred Heart Conventual Chapel, founded by the Sisters of Divine Providence can be the start of your special journey
The Sacred Heart Conventual Chapel (SHCC) at Our Lady of the Lake University holds deep meaning to both the university and wider communities. Built through the dreams and determination of Mother Florence Walter and the Sisters of Divine Providence 100 years ago, the Sacred Heart Conventual Chapel has been a beacon of faith and strength to students and guests who have walked through the doors, many to begin a new chapter in their lives.
This English Gothic chapel was a 28-year project of Mother Florence Walter, Superior General of the Congregation of Divine Providence from 1886-1925. The chapel has deep meaning also for the thousands of Our Lady of the Lake University, Providence Catholic School, and St. Martin Hall faculty, staff, and students who gather for liturgy. The chapel has always been important to the people in the San Antonio community at large and to the West Side neighborhood in particular.
