Strengthening OLLU for the Future
Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) is undergoing a comprehensive student-focused realignment process to ensure the continued strength and sustainability of our institution. While we will firmly maintain the principles set forth by the Sisters of Divine Providence, who founded OLLU with a vision of education, human service, and community health, we must adjust the pathways to achieve that vision. We began a process two years ago and have been committed to combining data-supported analysis with transparency, collaboration, and the ongoing engagement of our entire university community.
In 2023, OLLU tasked a census working group made up of faculty and staff to study the challenges facing the university. After reviewing the group's analysis of academic programs, OLLU leadership contracted with Forvis Mazars, a renowned audit and financial analysis firm, to implement a robust academic program economic analysis. This combined effort provided actionable insights driving OLLU's realignment. The university, as a measure of good fiscal management, has taken the bold step to critically reassess and modify its current offerings and expenditures.
The OLLU Board of Trustees has approved this strategic realignment plan with a vision of providing a rigorous slate of professional programs including a liberal arts foundation that prepares students with work-ready skills for high-demand careers. We will be discontinuing and modifying some academic programs, and eliminating some positions. Any student in an affected academic program will have the opportunity to complete the coursework necessary to earn their degree, even in programs we are discontinuing.
We now possess contemporary insights into our key strengths, untapped opportunities, and a positive path forward for OLLU. The future for OLLU is a bright one, filled with mission and purpose, academic rigor, and the financial stability our students, faculty, staff, and members of our community deserve.
