Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is practical and hands-on. I like to use real-world examples that apply them to the subject matter being taught, since this makes difficult concepts easier to grasp and understand. I am constantly trying to improve my teaching, and part of this is having conversations with my students about what is working and what needs work in the classroom, as well as reading student feedback. My courses usually have several kinds of hands-on components: assignments, projects, homework, in-class exercises, and sometimes even the exams and lessons themselves are hands-on. I want to help my students become the best technology professional that they can be.
Outside Interests
I have many different interests and love to learn different things. I love music, especially classical music, but I will also regularly listen to Jazz, Rock, Punk, Electronica, Rancheras, Corridos, Cumbias, and lately Vallenato. I also enjoy hunting, hiking, gardening, traveling and cooking, especially carne asada, since I was born in northeast Mexico. I speak English and Spanish (my first language) and I love all different kinds of food, especially authentic Mexican food.
