Jazmin Montanez - Criminal Justice and Psychology - Spring 2024 Senior Spotlight

May 01, 2024

Jazmin Montanez
Majors: Criminal Justice and Psychology with a minor in Education
Campus Activities: OLLU Cheer, OLLU campus Tour Guide, Kappa Delta Chi, Peer Mentor
Impact of OLLU: OLLU has impacted my life by giving me great opportunities, lifelong friends, and providing me a home away from home! The whole reason why I chose OLLU because of the welcoming environment I felt when I stepped on campus for the first time!

An important life lesson learned: One of the biggest life lessons I've learned within my four years of being here at OLLU is that if we put ourselves out of our comfort zone, we can truly see our full potential. Even if we don't succeed, how we come back from it shows our true strength. Being a first-generation student, I am four hours away from my comfort zone, but I never stopped striving to be who I wanted to be. Trying new things and showing initiative by taking the first step to the new is scary but all the more rewarding when you know that you got yourself there!

Plans for the future: After graduation I will be working as a Juvenile Detention Officer in Dallas County. While there, I will be familiarizing myself with this new experience and using the opportunity to be move a closer step to reach my career as a Juvenile Probation Officer.
