Our Lady of the Lake University Celebrates Record Attendance at 2025 Homecoming

San Antonio, TX – February 24, 2025 – Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) is thrilled to announce a record-breaking turnout at the unforgettable 2025 Homecoming Weekend. With hundreds of enthusiastic alumni, community members, and supporters joining in on the fun, this event was nothing short of spectacular. Spanning five eventful days from Wednesday, February 19th to Sunday, February 23rd, 2025, OLLU’s Homecoming transformed into a vibrant celebration that united OLLU Saints from across the decades. Together, they embraced the spirit of higher education with a higher purpose. 

“We are so proud to welcome back our Saints community to see their beloved alma mater and celebrate our 130th Anniversary,” said OLLU President Dr. Abel Chávez. “The legacy of our founders, the Sisters of Divine Providence, continues to inspire our visionary mission of cultivating servant leaders who will make a meaningful impact in our world. At OLLU, we are committed to being student-centered, dedicated to addressing the individual needs, academic goals, and career aspirations of every student we serve. It has been a joy to reconnect with so many of our OLLUmni.” 

The theme for Homecoming 2025 was “Celebrating 130 Years of Community and Tradition,” in celebration of Our Lady of the Lake University’s 130th Anniversary this year. Events included:  

  • Wednesday, February 19: OLLU hosted a Faculty and Staff Alumni Appreciation Day, highlighted by an exclusive screening of an exciting episode of “The College Tour” that showcased the vibrant spirit of our University. 
  • Thursday, February 20: Alumni and supporters gathered to cheer on our teams during two thrilling Homecoming basketball games! The Women’s and Men’s Basketball squads faced off against Paul Quinn College. 
  • Friday, February 21: The weekend kicked off with a bang at our Wine Tasting and Networking Reception! Attendees indulged in the rich flavors of exquisite Mexican wines from the local gem, Casa Guipzot, while mingling and making connections that spark excitement for the future.
  • Saturday, February 22: The excitement reached a fever pitch as the Women’s and Men’s Basketball teams faced off against the University of the Southwest in heart-pounding matchups.  

    • Saturday evening festivities soared to new heights with the unforgettable 130th Anniversary Celebration. Attendees contributed their own special notes to a time capsule destined to be opened in the year 2125, connecting our community across generations. The night culminated in a breathtaking light show to commemorate this remarkable milestone as we honored our Sisters.

  • Sunday, February 23: The grand finale of an unforgettable weekend unfolded with a meaningful Homecoming Mass to honor the remarkable 50th Reunion Class of 1975. The occasion combined the spiritual traditions upon that OLLU was founded with the nostalgia and joy of the reunited alumni. Following Mass, OLLU hosted a Homecoming Brunch that brought the Class of 1975 and our current OLLU student body together to connect upon the shared values that make OLLU students across generations great.
