Dr. Sauers Awarded National Grant to Expand Health and Fitness Initiatives

Mar 28, 2025

Congratulations to Dr. Adrienne Sauers, who has been awarded the Physical Education and Screening Grant under the prestigious Franklin Microgrant Program, supported by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Foundation. Only one grant in this category is awarded annually nationwide, making this a significant recognition of OLLU’s commitment to campus wellness.

The grant funds will be used to expand offerings during Exercise is Medicine Month in October 2025. Spearheaded by the OLLU Exercise is Medicine leadership team, the initiative will feature the launch of the S.A.I.N.T.S. Challenge — a dynamic campus-wide health and fitness campaign.

Set to roll out in Fall 2025, the S.A.I.N.T.S. Challenge will include:

  • Health and fitness screenings
  • Team-based exercise programs
  • Exciting prize initiatives

The project will be developed over the summer by a dedicated team including Dr. Sauers, Alyssa Garcia, Karen D’Armata, Lenor Berma, Sara Garza, and Kaitlyn Olivas.

This initiative reflects OLLU’s growing leadership in promoting wellness through physical activity and health education. Stay tuned for ways to participate in the S.A.I.N.T.S. Challenge and get moving with the Saints!
