OLLU secures $500,000 grant from National Science Foundation
Sep 12, 2022
OLLU has received a $495,000 National Science Foundation (NSF) Louis Stokes Alliances
for Minority Participation (LSAMP) grant to help students pursuing science, technology,
engineering and mathematics (STEM) degrees.
The prestigious grant will support five years of paid student peer coach positions
and research opportunities, in partnership with St. Mary’s University, the University
of the Incarnate Word and Trinity University.
The goal of the LSAMP program is to assist universities and colleges in diversifying
the nation’s STEM workforce by increasing the number of STEM baccalaureate and graduate
degrees awarded to populations historically underrepresented in these disciplines:
African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians,
and Native Pacific Islanders.
