Jesse Borrego to speak at Thiry Auditorium
Oct 18, 2021
The OLLU Salazar-Escobedo School of Mass Communication and Theater will present “An Evening with Jesse Borrego” on Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Thiry Auditorium.
An actor, director and producer, Borrego is a San Antonio native. He will present, “Bridging the Cultural Uncanny Valley: Image and Story in the 21st Century.”
One of four Latino actors recently invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Borrego will share his perspective on cultural identity and image. The presentation will explain how cultural identity and image relate to the trillion-dollar entertainment industry, consumerism, and ultimately our American cultural identity.
As a veteran of stage, screen and television, Borrego has a unique understanding of the challenges of a Chicano actor. Exploring the highlights of his professional career, he identifies certain milestones in our shared cultural evolution and the potential empowerment of the cultural narrative in our digital information age.
A meet and greet will follow the presentation.
