Valero Alamo Bowl awards $35,000 for scholarships

Fourteen students have been awarded a total of $35,000 in scholarships from the Valero Alamo Bowl for the 2019-20 school year.
Five of the recipients joined 750 football fans and local business leaders on Wednesday
for the Rudy’s Bar B-Q Pigskin Preview Luncheon.
Those students were senior kinesiology major Robert Oliva; junior Mexican American
Studies major Lauryn Castro; junior Psychology major Nadia Gloria; senior Psychology
major Vanessa Guevara; and senior Individualized Study major Rebecca Garza.
These recipients met ESPN analyst Todd Blackledge and Valero Alamo Bowl Chair Brad
Barron.
The Valero Alamo Bowl Community Partners Scholarship program also awarded scholarships
to Liesel Aranda, Joseph Cardenas and Andrea Gandara, seniors studying Kinesiology;
Zachary Muha and Angela Vargas Tafolla, seniors studying Computer Information Systems
and Security; Alexis Elizondo, senior, Communication Disorders; Michael Tijerina,
senior, Marketing; Jose Luis Neri, senior, Individualized Study; and Nora Marcel Anda,
junior, Kinesiology.
