Curriculum Vitae

Areas of Expertise

I am both a developmental psychologist and a mental health counselor. Areas of expertise include: developmental psychology, gerontology, thanatology, stress management, and counseling.

Teaching Philosophy

I value a learning environment that provides students with stimulating, demanding, and encouraging opportunities to inquire, discuss, and apply what they have learned. Using a variety of instructional methodologies, we investigate ideas, theories, and practices, and students are encouraged to relate what they have learned in the classroom to circumstances they encounter in their communities and personal lives and to imagine practical applications for psychology.

Outside Interests

I enjoy nature, hiking, and spending time with loved ones. I also maintain a small psychotherapy practice that affords me the opportunity to serve the local community through my work with young teens and adults.
